Welcome to the About Me page. Here I have included some personal analysis material about my social media habits and platforms, including a visitor/resident map, social media audit, and link to my LinkedIn. This provides insight into my current social media usage.

Visitor/Resident Map

Social Media Audit - completed by Gillian Boyland

Step 1 - Inventory Your Partner's Social Media Presence
1.Google your partner’s name. What have you found?
I see Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter profiles. I also see original article posts on Medium from Makenzie and Aspire Ventures.

2.Is your partner on LinkedIn? Facebook? Twitter? Other social platforms?
Makenzie is on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat. I know this because we already follow each other on these platforms.

3.Describe your partner’s behavior on social media. Is your partner active or passive? What types of content does your partner post?
On Twitter, Makenzie is a passive user because her content is mostly retweeted. On Facebook she is a passive user because her content on her profile consists of reposted videos and photos she is tagged in. On Instagram, she is an active user and posts original content.

Step 2 - Summarize Your Perception of Your Partner
My overall perception of Makenzie is that she carries herself very well. Her social media profiles show that she is professional, but also social among friends and family. I can also perceive that she has a sense of humor based on the funny videos she shares.

Step 3 - Provide Feedback on Your Partner's Social Media Strategy
Makenzie could post more to social media platforms to enhance the strategy. She currently has 7 tweets in total, so posting more on Twitter would give her a wider social media presence.

Step 4 - Reflect on Your Personal Social Media Strategy

My partner's social media audit reflected my intended strategy. I agree that I could post more on my twitter to create a more personal presence, one that I can create myself and bring in a personal voice. I do try to keep my Instagram the most original since it is photo-based. I'm glad that my humor shows through my Facebook through the posts that I share, even though I am most passive on that platform in particular.

As I reflect on my resident/visitor map, I don't think it matches exactly what others perceive of my strategy. The social media account on Twitter that Gillian audited for me was not the one I use every day, but rather one for a professional profile at my internship. I agree with her statements for that profile in particular, but I think I am much more active on my personal Twitter, posting lots of original content.

I learned that I may be more passive on most social platforms than I initially expected. I thought since I spent a lot of time on them I would be considered fairly active, but things like YouTube and Pinterest, are much more visitor-based than resident-based. I may try to become more active on these platforms by posting more personal content to those profiles and accounts.

I think my personal identity and social media identity are very similar for the most part. The biggest distinction is my level of humor. I try to be more humorous in my personal accounts and more professional on my other accounts. I feel like I am funnier in person because I can laugh at myself. On social media, I try to be funny and it may not convey the same way.

I feel like I'm just as open and free to express myself on social media as I am in person. I am not afraid to share my thoughts with others both in person and online, especially if it is bothering me.
